I'm Dr George E. Agathokleous, a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Psychotherapist.

Over the past 12 years, I've worked in youth mental health clinics and charities across the UK and Cyprus, helping children, young people and adults with a range of mental health conditions, including common psychiatric disorders and neurodevelopmental difficulties like:

Anxiety/ Stress and Depression:  Separation Anxiety, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Low mood/ Depression, Panic Attacks,

Life Challenges:  Bullying and Cyberbullying, Post-Traumatic Stress, Sleep problems, Gender identity/ Sexual orientation

Neurodevelopmental Conditions: ADHD /ADD, Hyperactivity, Autism symptoms, Tourette's Syndrome

 I've delivered therapy in primary and secondary schools in the UK, and more recently in Cyprus through the Social Inclusion Programme DRA.SE.+ co-funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth and the European Social Fund. My experience also includes working with adults and older adults in various clinical settings, including Secondary Care within the National Health Service (NHS), where I completed part of my doctoral training supporting those with severe mental illness such as , bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, complex and enduring grief, post-traumatic stress, generalised anxiety, severe depression, panic attacks, bullying, ADHD /ADD and other challenges. I'm an experienced clinical supervisor for psychologists and therapists (both qualified and in training). I attend regular supervision for my clinical work and engage in personal therapy to support my own mental health and wellbeing.

 Academically, I've served as a Senior Lecturer and Lecturer at the University of Wolverhampton, with responsibilities including course leadership, teaching, research supervision and curriculum design across undergraduate, Masters and Doctoral programmes. I've been a visiting speaker at several colleges and universities, including the University of Nicosia and Neapolis University in Cyprus. My Doctoral thesis explored predictors of uptake for online therapy interventions. In 2022, I published a chapter titled 'How Online Counselling Is Utilised, Evaluated, and Received' in Digital Innovations for Mental Health Support, IGI Global. I currently serve as an External Examiner for the University of Lancashire UK and am a certified Fellow of the Higher Education Academy UK.

 I hold Doctorate and Masters degrees in Counselling Psychology (PsychD, M.Sc.) and a BSc in Psychology. I'm a Certified Person-Centred Psychotherapist, Qualified Integrative Psychotherapist and Certified Online Therapist (Level 2), with additional training in Complex Trauma therapies, Eye-Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapy- EMDR (Lvl1), Play Therapy, Psychometric Assessment (Level 1), and Therapeutic Applications of Interpersonal Neurobiology. I've also taken on seasonal roles as Assistant Programme Leader and Senior Mentor for the National Citizen Service UK, where I supervised large groups of young people (ages 15-18) and staff members, supporting their psychological and behavioural wellbeing during community-based and social programme activities.
